Request fee

If the information you request, is not your personal information held by Transnet, a request fee of R 35.00 must be paid before Transnet will process your request.

Public records

The request fee of R 35,00 is not required for copies of records that are publicly available, but may require that access fees are paid for reproduction, if applicable (15(3)). The following Spoornet information is publicly available at the cost of the access fee that applies:

Access fees

An access fee must be paid when a request for access to information is granted, to cover reproduction, search and preparation, except when the access fee is specially excluded by the Act or by the Minister in terms of Section 22(8).

Copies of records that are publicly available, do not require that the request fee of R35-00 be paid, but do require payment of an access fee for reproduction, if applicable.

The access fees for reproduction, search and preparation are:

Deposits

When a request is received that will require more than six hours of preparation, you will be notified to pay a deposit, of not more than a third of the total access fee that will be charged. If a deposit has been paid for a request and access is later refused, Transnet will repay your deposit.

Appeals

If access to a record is refused by Transnet, you may lodge an appeal against the refusal. A prescribed appeal fee is payable and the decision on the appeal may be deferred until the fee is paid (75(3)(b)).
